Ex-/Pet Requirements
If you plan on making a Pet, or even an Ex-Pet, there are some things that you need to know. These things must be a part of every Pet or Ex-Pet in some way. I am very very picky about this, and am usually very strict about these things. I will be open to any sort of interpretation of these things, and if you have any questions, please to take the time to pm me or ask me questions in the cbox.
Recent developments have caused the pets to be broken apart into two different groups. So think carefully about what you wish to choose. Please read absolutely all of the information before deciding on what you wish to do. Riku's pets are located above the line, Luka's are below it. Some information from Riku's section will be present in Luka's pets, so it important to read all of it.
Riku is currently not making any new pets. So if you make one, it has to have been done before the civil war.
Becoming A Pet
The most likely case, you have been chosen as a Pet because there is something about your powers that interest Riku. Something he may find useful. Usually, he sends a trusted Pet to kidnap you and drag you in. Usually you will have absolutely no idea where you are or why you're here. This is a fairly traumatic experience.
On the other hand, Riku does actually take volunteers, as well. Most of them are unhappy in their lives, or are being treated for incurable diseases. If you are a minor, which is below the age of 16 in London, your parents or a guardian needs to sign off on your paper work. He won't tell you exactly what you're getting yourself into, and after the process begins, he informs your family that you have died, and that it might be best if they pack up and move on with their lives. Which they all do. After all, he can't have you running into your siblings or parents once you are allowed outside.
Most of this is done by people that work for Riku, under his orders, and not usually done by Riku himself.
Timeframe
In order to be a Pet or an Ex-Pet, you must have spent at least 6 months in Riku's labs. During these 6 months, or longer if that's what you feel like, your character has undergone some very horrible things. Experimentation on their genetics, having their minds and wills completely broken down and rebuilt to a way that Riku sees fit. But I'll get into that later.
Riku has been making and researching these pets for the last 11 years or so, however, most pets only came to be in the last 7 years. So if you decide you want your pet to have been around before 7 years ago, you will need to have my permission to do so.
Because of the Civil War, All loyal pets much have been in his care for at least a year and a half.
The Process
The process for making Pets is a long and tedious journey. It is absolutely horrible for basically everyone that undergoes the experiment. Some people make it, others die, or go completely insane and are put out of their misery.
It starts with breaking down the will of your character. Making them obedient. Their minds are also worn down during this time, so that they can be properly molded into whatever sort of mindset Riku sees fit. This process can take a long time, or a short time, depending on how much resistance your character puts up. Inevitably, though, their will is broken, and you are moved onto the next step. Very important to know, however, it is possible to continue to struggle against this. It is excruciating, but escape is possible. Hence the Ex-Pets.
The next step is genetic and physical alterations. There will always be an implant put into the brain of every single pet, close to their central nervous system, making it easier to shut them down. This will be explained further on. Riku is known to genetically alter every single pet in some way. He will add a modified version of the DNA of any of the species. If you have conflicting species, you will need daily injections of a synthetic material that keeps the different strands of DNA bonded. Physical modifications vary from character to character. Some have gem like things under their eyes. Others can have animal like characteristics, like ears and a tail.
Next comes power alteration. The process for this is still working it's way through my head, so I can't really explain it. However, Riku has the ability to infuse every Pet with powers that he finds beneficial. Basic Pet Powers can be found right here. On top of those, He may infuse you with something else. Any other power within the abilities that he has available to him.
After all of that, your character will be ready for testing. They are first stuck into a simulation and given all sorts of orders. Stalk this person, kidnap this person, kill this person. Etc. If you still show resistance by this point, your character gets sent back to the first step. Once you pass enough of the simulated tests, you get a trial run. This run is supervised by an officer, or trusted pet, in the field, and Riku keeps a close watch via the implant. If you screw up, or try and escape, while out in the field, and officer will be sent to either capture you and take you back, or kill you. And if you still manage to escape, you may become an Ex-Pet.
If you manage to pass enough field tests, you will be allowed out on your own. Riku will still always be watching and listening to your actions and thoughts however.
The Implant
So scientifically possible or not, I don't care. My world, my rules. Okay, moving on.
Each and every single Pet gets an implant in their brains, yes, their brains. It rests against their central nervous system. It isn't terribly uncomfortable for them, and they don't really ever even notice it much beyond the scar that the surgery leaves along the lower back portion of their heads.
This implant is made specifically for Riku to keep an eye on them and condition them as much as he can. The implants react specially to his power, using electronic impulses straight into their minds, allowing him to communicate with the Pets, without ever needing to open his mouth. He has one in his own brain as well, just in case anyone needed to know.
This implant has been improved over the years. He can now use these implants to actually see out of their eyes, as well as gave them the ability to communicate mentally with one another.
If a Pet disobeys or misbehaves, the implant will send a strong electric impulse straight into their nervous center. It has the same strength as a police taser, but has no need to course through the body before reaching the brain, or can be nothing more than a simple shock, like accidentally touching metal into a socket. Riku can adjust the impulses from his phone and deliver an appropriate amount of electricity to the offending Pet. He can use this repeatedly, and anytime he wishes. If your Pet is being particularly naughty, he may just shock you into unconsciousness and have someone drag you back in, where you will be severely punished.
He can always hear the thoughts of his Pets. All of their thoughts. He chooses to ignore them most of the time, especially for the Pets that he actually trusts. But if he notices your Pet thinking out of line, he will respond. For newer Pets, this may come as a bit of a surprise the first few times it happens, as he doesn't ever make small talk. If he is talking to you, it is either because he is giving you orders or checking in. There is also a tracking device built in, so that he always knows exactly where you are.
If You're Caught
You best hope that this never actually happens. But, if your Pet is caught by the authorities, Riku will shock your brain into mush and one of two things will happen. Either you will be put into a coma, or sent to an asylum. Either way, Riku will send a trusted Pet to kill you.
Pets are sent to kidnap people, so there is always a risk of being caught. But it is terribly frowned upon. If there is a witness, you kill them. But you must never leave a trace. Riku is a rather powerful businessman, and graciously donates money to the police department, and the local hospitals. He is all about appearances, and if there is any sort of a risk to his identity, he will end it.
If there is a need to dispose of a body, Riku has clean up crews to take care of this, but it's best of your pet doesn't just leave the bodies laying around either. It is an order to hide the bodies until the clean up crew comes to remove it.
Relationships
Your relationship to Riku is basically strictly business. He doesn't see his Pets as people. You work for him, but that is it. Other than in the lab and in his head, he ignores the fact that you even exist. But to the world, you don't exist. You must not disrespect him in anyway. If you do, he will punish you for it. And you will regret it. Despite this, he does actually care for each and every one of the pets, but he will never really show it.
To other Pets, you can act however you like. You want to be flirty, fine, you want to be a pain in the ass, fine, you wanna be shy, fine. Other Pets, in turn can treat your Pet however they wish.
If you're in public and have some kind of physical alteration, it is generally accepted to hide it. When among the regular population, you are meant to blend in as much as you can. Appear like a normal person, act like a normal person. Stalk your given targets, and always keep an eye out for new ones.
It is rather frowned upon for Pets to develop romantic relationships, especially with anyone not involved with Riku or the Pets. If it is found that you do develop a romantic interest in someone outside of this, Riku will usually order them to be brought in and forced to be a Pet, or he will simply have them killed.
Ex-Pets
Ex-Pets are pets that have successfully escaped Riku and his Pets. If you have managed to escape, the first thing an Ex-Pet has on their agenda is to get that implant out of their head before they are found and caught. You may have this procedure done anywhere you want, just don't try and do it yourself, as you might cause permanent brain damage. Most Ex-Pets are intercepted upon their escape by either Kyrarei or XVI. These two take in any Ex-Pets and get them all set up in a new life. Please note, that after getting the implant removed, your Ex-Pet needs to remain in a coma for around a month, and needs some basic rehabilitation done which may take up to another 3 months. Ex-Pets will either move on with their lives, but if they stay in the area, they are a target for Riku and his Pets to go after, or they may choose to stay in hiding and work with Kyrarei and XVI.
Luka's Pets
This is a new option, so there are probably going to be strict limitations and guidelines. There may also be some conflicting information, so please make sure just to ask the admin for approval for anything here.
To begin with, if your Pet is loyal to Luka, they must have previously been loyal to Riku. Unlike Riku, Luka absolutely will not kidnap anyone and force them into the program. He does not take volunteers either. He only has Pets that were already involved in the program.
If there were any Pets in progress when the Civil War happened, they will automatically be loyal to Luka, as Riku is no longer around.
Luka has a different agenda than Riku does, and his Pets are made more for fighting off or killing Riku's pets.
All Kindred Pets must have been pets since before the Civil War, which would mean they have been loyal to Luka for at least a year.
The Process
Luka does alter them further, however, adding a new serum and a new set of powers, which can be found right here in the red sections. Luka will add a secondary pet power as well as the rest of his default ones.
Luka will remove the implants from the Pets that remain loyal to him, as he has no use for them. Instead, a few different seals will be placed upon your Pet in order to do basically the same things that the implant does. Luka will be able to constantly monitor your Pet's thoughts and actions, and he will also be able to punish them if they step out of line.
Unlike Riku, Luka is very hands on and oversees each and every Pet while they're being made, jumping in to change things or punish them as he sees fit.
The Projects
Like Riku, Luka has his own line of genetically perfect creatures. They are formed over time and literally built from the ground up. Kaiydhin is involved in this process, and is basically in charge of it. These projects are available to play by audition only, as they are a bit more overpowered and easier to abuse.
