⚜ Opening the Rift ⚜
The rain poured from the sky, lightning crackled in the air. But he didn't care. He didn't care about the fact that his clothes were soaked, he didn't care that he was freezing, he didn't care about the looks that he got as he stormed through town. Brunette hair fell down into glowing red eyes as Kyou made his way towards the edge of the park. Pure hatred driven rage poured off of him in waves. His patience with his host was at a literal end. And if he couldn't kill Akira alone, then they would both die.
'Kyou! Kyou! You can't do this!'
'Watch me.'
The hellion made rather excellent time to the park. Seclusion. That's what he was looking for. Somewhere his body could rot over time, where no one would find it. His host was screaming inside of his head, but that wasn't going to stop him. Not this time. Kyou passed through the trees at he edge of the park, making his way into the trails. His raw primal energy bounced off of the trees, crashing around like the ocean when it hits a pier. A knife fell into his hand, he had been keeping it up his sleeve as he made his way through town, but now, there was no reason to hide it.
'Kyou! Please! Please! You can't do this! What about Michael! What about Amos! Please!'
But Kyou ignored him. It wasn't like he gave a single shit about the boy or his stupid lovers. He could care less about any of it.
'Well, at least they'll have each other, right?'
The hellion reached one of the trails, following it to a remote area, dipping through into the trees again, fading away into the shadows. The darkness. How he belonged in it. He hadn't expected to stumble across a clearing, let alone one with someone in it. Kyou reigned in his powers, as much as he had liked letting them flow around him without limitation, he didn't particularly want to piss off the girl sitting in the middle of the clearing, a rather large white dragon by her side. Kyou stopped walking and just stared at it for a moment. Literally... A fucking dragon. Which was now a very pissed fucking dragon.
"Kyou, is it? I thought that power felt familiar. A certain amount of rage I could not have overlooked." The girl stood and patted the dragon on the side of it's head before turning around to face the intruder.
Kyou's blood colored eyes rested on her, taking in her appearance. The girl gave off a soft, pinkish white glow. And he recognized her immediately. "Lily..."
The white haired girl nodded, a smile on her face, which was sort of creepy in its own way. "I've heard your wishes, Kyou. And I can grant them for you." Kyou was going to ask her what she meant by that, but seeing as how the albino girl was still breathing, and had a giant fucking dragon doing her bidding, he didn't really think that he wanted to know. "You want Akira dead, yes?" The hellion simply nodded. Lily smiled and was instantly in front of him, which caused him to jump a bit in surprise. "Will you make it happen? If you could kill him, without dying yourself. Would you do it?"
"Without hesitation. But.. It's impossible." He knew it was. Even Luka had almost killed the both of them trying to extract Kyou from his host. Kyou had saved their lives by catching Luka off guard enough to escape.
The girl put her softly glowing hands on either side of his face. The rain seemed to no longer fall onto him, the thunder seemed silent in comparison to the beating of his heart, his blood rushing through his ears. "I can make it so..." His face was pulled to hers, a soft kiss being planted on his lips. His entire body felt like it was burning up, engulfed in hellfire. Anguish, and yet, complete and total peace. His emotions settled, no longer raging, in his head, silence took over. Nothing existed. Not even himself. Not right now.
A splitting pain crashed through him, like an axe splitting wood, splinters of him falling away, torn apart straight down the middle. He hadn't heard the thud on the ground behind him. As she pulled away from him, she smiled softly. Kyou blinked in complete confusion, looking down at his naked form. His body was trembling, power rushing through him. He stared at the girl as she smiled, her hand gently cupping his cheek. "Now, keep your promise, Kyou. Kill him for me."
Her eyes darted to the ground somewhere behind him, and his gaze was finally able to tear itself away from her. Blood colored eyes blinked in confusion, looking down towards the rather terrified looking Akira. His host... He turned to look back towards her, and then back towards Akira. She was urging him to keep his promise, to kill the boy that had created him, the one that held him captive his entire life. It wasn't too hard to get into the feel of things again, to use his powers to pick his host up and fling him into a tree. Akira yelped in pain as he was thrown against it, crumpling to the ground.
Again and again, Kyou did this, throwing Akira around from place to place, until he felt himself be thrown backwards, landing rather haphazardly at the feet of the dragon. Akira was growling at him, clutching at his rather obviously dislocated shoulder, his brown hair falling into his rage filled sapphire eyes. Kyou wasn't wet. Rain didn't touch his skin. This all had to be some sort of weird dream, right? This would never really be able to happen... Would it? Again he felt himself being thrown backwards, this time off to the side of the clearing. So.. Akira had rather good control over his powers after all. He could sense his emotions beginning to change. That he simply couldn't allow. Across the field from him, Akira's screams of agony pierced the sky. Kyou could hear the girl laughing a bit, absolutely thrilled to see the boy failing.
"YOU SON OF A BITCH!"
But Akira's words didn't matter. Kyou was across the clearing, his hand gripping Akira's throat. The boy clawed at his arm, but it was no use. Wave after wave of pure agony tore through the boy, so much so that his skin began to tear apart in places. But no matter how much he tried, he couldn't make a sound. Kyou had him too tight. His world was beginning to blur, his head felt like it was just going to pop right off. 'Kyou... Let go... Please.. You don't really want to do this...'
A deep, inhuman chuckle rose from the depths of Kyou's chest, his eyes glowing a bright red, his fangs protruding from his mouth. Bright red markings traced his skin, horns rose from his head. The power that filled him drove him wild. He felt... Free. "Ohhh.. But I really do, Akira." He spat out the boy's name like it was something foul.
A gasp escaped him, along with a bit of a yelp of pain as the knife he had ha earlier drove itself between his ribs. Akira's deep sapphire eyes glared up at him. Kyou dropped the boy, coughing and sputtering on the ground, as he staggered backwards, blinking in confusion at the pain in his side. A growl escape him, and he ripped the blade from his side. "I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!" Kyou launched himself at the other male. Akira somehow was managing to hold the knife mere inches from his face, squirming around to try and get out from under the hellion above him. But Kyou was much stronger than him. Kyou flew away from him, brightly glowing magenta colored barbed vines wrapping around him, causing him to scream out in frustration.
The girl, the dragon, and Akira all managed to look in the direction that the binding power had come from. Akira let out a small laugh, relieved by his brother's form emerging from between the trees. Luka knelt down on one knee near his brother, checking him over for any wounds. "Are you alright, Akira?"
"I.. I am now." Luka smiled down at his brother, who just wrapped his arms around his neck for a moment. Once Akira let go, Luka stood and helped him to his feet.
"Let us leave, Lily. I don't want any trouble, but I will not let you kill my brother." His dual colored eyes glared over at the girl, who just laughed.
"You don't honestly think you could win, do you? Poor little kitty cat." Luka was pinned back against a tree. Akira cried out for him, but Luka just continued glaring at the girl.
"I... Don't... Want a fight... Lily..." The power crushing him was stronger than he had anticipated. But it wasn't anything that he couldn't handle. Akira turned and concentrated, knocking the girl over with a telekinetic wave that she had not been expecting. Luka fell to the ground, but quickly gained his composure. "But since there appears to be no other choice..." Luka sighed as the dragon spat fire in his direction. Akira braced himself, not that it would have helped much, but luckily Luka was as prepared as always, his hand on the ground, a rather large seal beneath him and his brother. Akira blinked down at it, moving his head to try and see the whole thing. Luka stood back up straight and brushed himself off. "Well, that wasn't very nice..."
The catboy slowly walked towards the dragon, the flames licking up around him, breaking as the hit an invisible shield around him. Once he was close enough, the dragon stooped down to try and eat the catboy. Luka stuck his hand on the side of the dragon's face, a seal etching itself in the beast, slowly spreading and taking over his whole body, bright violet magenta markings wrapping themselves around it, much like the vines that held Kyou. "Using a dragon.. Shame on you." Luka clicked his tongue and shook his head. He snapped his fingers, and slowly the dragon disappeared, letting out screeches as it did so.
"Amos! No!" Lily glared over to the cat boy, floating a few inches above the ground. Oh she was pissed now. "You are going to pay for that!" The white haired girl threw bolt after bolt of sheer power at the cat boy, and each time it reflected from his shield. She growled a bit in irritation as he just stood there, putting his hands on his hips. "Fine. You want to play dirty..." Lily shot out bolts in every direction, a few hit Kyou, but it wasn't like she cared, she was hoping Luka could be distracted enough guarding himself to ignore his brother. She grinned, but Luka teleported back to the seal under his brother, once more activating it.
"Luka... How... How are you...?" Akira stared up at his brother, who just put a finger over his mouth. It wasn't like it was important for him to know.
"Kyou is free.. Handle him. I'll take care of Lily." He mentioned, disappearing again, only to reappear by the girl. Akira's eyes scanned over the clearing just in time to see Kyou stalking towards the other two. Luka was now his target, which Akira supposed was probably the best distraction he could hope for. Akira moved a bit closer to them, blasting out a wave of energy. Kyou was the only one that seemed to be affected, flying backwards into a tree. Well, that distraction didn't last too long, as once more Akira was sent to his knees, pain tearing through his body.
'I.. I can't hold him off Luka... I'm not strong enough without him...'
'You can do it Akira. You are strong enough. Just look inside. Find it.'
Kyou was coming towards him rather quickly. Akira closed his eyes, concentrating deep within himself. He had no idea what Luka was talking about at first. How the hell could he defeat Kyou? Kyou was the most powerful creature he had ever met, outside of his brother and the girl apparently. But then it hit him. He did have an advantage. Something that Kyou wouldn't have, something Kyou wouldn't understand. Akira could feel the hellion practically on top of him now, Kyou's power driving straight into him, trying to turn his thoughts and emotions into goo. 'Michael... Amos... I need you..'
The hellion was rather surprised at the black wings that shot from Akira's back, and the wave of power that went with it, knocking him halfway across the clearing. Dark markings etched into Akira's skin, blue and black horns rising from his head, fangs in his mouth, his eyes glowing a soft blue. Kyou had never actually seen Akira in his true form. He was always shoved deep and far away from him. But he had grown. Adding Michael to his true bond seriously raised his abilities. Shadows swirled around him. This was bad...
Kyou stood back up, reaching inwards for his true abilities as well, letting his pure hellion blood boil in his veins. But still, Akira's power was too great, swallowing his right up. Kyou felt his energy being consumed, being drained away, sucked down into that darkness. Akira's shadows wrapped completely around him, squeezing him until he couldn't breathe. His body quickly became paralyzed. Michael's power... He felt his emotions shifting slowly, but being easily controlled. Amos's power... And then he felt it.. The waves of sheer destructive force, like being thrown around by a tornado, throwing him back, breaking trees into splinters as he was thrown through them. Akira had decimated a city before.. Kyou had thought that perhaps it had been because of him. But it wasn't. Luka had been right after all...
Meanwhile, Lily was still flinging power at Luka, all sorts of powers, elemental, mental, physical, even powers never seen or heard of before. And he just continued to absorb them. The girl was panicking now, giving everything she had in one final sort of blow.
Everything around them fell into silence as the dust and dirt and debris settled. Lily grinned, hoping with everything that she had that the cat boy would be down. And perhaps he was. Lily growled, as a shadow appeared amidst the clearing dust. But what was standing there was far from the cat boy. A woman, hovering mere inches above the ground. A bright magenta glow around her. Her long white hair stuck up a bit on top of her head, like ears. Glowing magenta vines bound her wrists, her ankles, her neck, each of them wrapped around the unconscious cat boy at her feet. Lily gasped as the woman looked up, a small smirk crossing her face. Words were spoken, but Lily could not understand them. Fear began to set in and she slowly backed away. But she couldn't give up. Akira was still alive, Luka was down, Kyou was somewhere, but still alive. That was good, right? He could come to her aide if she needed it, right?
"I will not give up!" Lily flung powers at the woman, each falling pitifully away from her. Again, she gathered her strength. She would not fail this time. She would not lose, not to them! Not again!
The woman above Luka did the same, watching Lily gather her powers. She shook her head, moving her hands a bit, sending her vines down through the ground, forcing them up under the girl as she gathered her strength, wrapping around her in a similar manner to the way she was. Lily let out a scream as the vines pierced through her. The woman drew her closer, and the moment she was close enough, Lily let out her blast of power like a bomb. Lily was flung backwards from the force of it, Akira was throw forwards, in the direction of Kyou.
Power rippled through the clearing, out through the trees. The mighty wave crashed through the city, like a massive explosion. Light burst, power went of, fierce winds and telekinetic energy threw cars, mailboxes, trees, everything within a mile of the park looked like a rather powerful explosion had hit. The entire city became engulfed in darkness while all the grids went down. The city shook like a minor earthquake, which no doubt caused some sort of panic.
In the middle of that clearing, Luka lay on the ground, slowly coming into consciousness. Just a few feet from him, reality seemed to bend and tear. Luka pushed himself up into a sitting position, only being able to see Lily lying on the ground some distance away. Trees were felled all around the clearing, and it was dark. Between the raging thunderstorm and the time of night... But there was something else too. No city lights? That was strange. Luka pushed himself up a bit more, trying to focus on the thing in front of him. It seemed to glow, a bright pinkish white light. The more it tore open, the brighter it seemed to get. It shimmered in and out of focus, like it wasn't actually real. But it was. Luka backed up a bit as it grew. He could see... trees? A sky? Mountains in the distance? He reached out towards it, that bright pinkish white energy crackling up his arm. He withdrew like he had been electrocuted.
The cat boy shook his head. This really wasn't right. But he needed to check on Lily, make sure that she wasn't going to bother them any longer. Luka stalked over to her, using his foot to turn her over. He stuck said foot on her neck and pressed down. Her eye shot open, string up at him, growling a bit. "You've lost, Lily."
"What... What was she?"
Of course he knew now exactly who she was talking about. But she didn't need to know that. Luka bent down and replaced his foot with his hand, strangling her instead, pulling her up by her throat. The vines wrapped down his arm, around her neck, down along her entire body. They pierced through her anywhere they could until the girl was spitting up blood. It streamed out of the side of her mouth, out of her ears, her eyes, her nose. But still she smirked. "You've got a dark secret there... Luka. She will consume you..."
But it wasn't like it mattered. Th vines snapped her neck as they finished draining the rest of her powers. Lily's body fell to the ground with a soft thud. Luka felt her power burning through him, the force of it was overwhelming, and he fell to his knees for a few moments, doubling over in pain. It took a bit after it settled for him to finally be able to move again. The cat boy stood and brushed himself off, going off to look for his brother. Akira had his hands in his hoodie pockets, the rain softly falling onto his hair. Luka looked down to see that he was standing over Kyou.
"I can't do it, Luka.. I can't kill him. I hate him, I really truly do but... He's always taken my pain away and... I.. I really don't know what I'm going to do without him..." Akira turned towards his brother, tears rolling down his cheeks. Luka could tell that he was exhausted.
A small sigh left the cat boy, but he moved over to stare down at Kyou as well. "Well... You have room, don't you? At your place? Let's just get him back there for now, alright? I'm sure Michael and Amos will be wondering where you've gone off to. Were they gone when you left?" Akira nodded slowly, reaching down together with Luka to lift his naked body double up onto his back.
"What happened, Luka? Why is everything so dark...? And what... What is that light?"
Of course Akira would be curious. But there wasn't time to stand around and figure it out right now. After all, he could already hear police sirens wailing in the distance. And he had just committed murder. "We can speak of it when we get back to your home, alright?" Akira nodded in agreement, and Luka helped lead him out of the park and back towards his home.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
It didn't take long for news to spread around the city. The area had been quarantined, investigated, and still, no one knew what the light was. No one could get near enough to it. Every time someone tried, the power from it reacted like it had with Luka. Like being struck by lightning. Of course, the rest of the city was in various states of repair. They tried their hardest to keep the citizens away from the rift for the moment. At least until they could figure out what it was, and why it was there. Of course there were theories. Lots of theories. A portal to an alien world, a wormhole to the past, to the future, some sort of alternate dimension. But no one could prove any of those theories. And it would be a few more weeks before it was finally understood.
